Welcome Everyone!

The season is uponst me! My odd little hobby of raising Monarch Butterlies has now gone into high gear and upon persistent urging...I have finally begun to put down all of the excitement that will take place over the next 6 weeks or so.
Thank-you very much for reading this blog and perhaps you will find yourself wanting to help a critter on this planet that needs help.

Isis in Chrysalis July 18, 2010

Wow!  For me to think that Isis has made it to Chrysalis is a wonder story.

When I had the leaf with the egg on it that "Isis" became, the egg actually became detached from the leaf and fell into my sink!  Oh gosh the horror of this happening!!!!    You can imagine my word balloon!

Anyhow - I carefully picked up the egg with the pad of my finger and popped right back onto the spot on the leaf where it was originally attached.

And hoped and prayed in truth, but with a very heavy heart thinking that nothing would happen.

And then, one day I saw the top of the egg darken with the head and next I knew, a teeny tiny larvae appeared.  And then became a caterpillar.  But did not thrive. I guess that is what happens when your egg is dropped.
And it took all of my coaxing skills to get the little one to eat.  And slowing, but surely, it got with the program.

And now that caterpillar is a beautiful Chrysalis.  Wow.
