Welcome Everyone!

The season is uponst me! My odd little hobby of raising Monarch Butterlies has now gone into high gear and upon persistent urging...I have finally begun to put down all of the excitement that will take place over the next 6 weeks or so.
Thank-you very much for reading this blog and perhaps you will find yourself wanting to help a critter on this planet that needs help.

Whoa! Excitement! Cleopatra is spinning her silk pad tonight

Cleopatra spinning her spinning her silk pad.
This is critical as the caterpillar needs to get a "good" secure pad spun so that when it transforms from the Pupa state (the shedding of skin and getting into the Chrysalis so that they can metamorphose) it is secured to its' place of choice.   When the caterpillar sheds its' skin and the green Chrysalis emerges, the new creature has but milliseconds to "hook" itself into the silk pad and remain secured while it completes its' metamorphoses.    Isn't nature awesome!
